Talik coaches have coached leaders in all kinds of roles and organisations, for all kinds of purposes. The common thread throughout is our attention to relational dynamics and developing relational capacities as the foundation of effective leadership.
Many of the clients who come to us have been leading complex change programmes – from the building of a prestigious new hospital, to managing the flood of incoming aid in Sierra Leone’s Ebola epidemic (and the strings attached); from returning a loss-making family firm to profit, to transforming the core business model of a large non-profit; from producing an ambitious ESG strategy for a retailer to shifting an energy firm’s core business from fossil fuel extraction to renewables development.
Sometimes we coach entirely remotely, such as with leaders blazing a trail for green growth in Hong Kong or climate finance in New York. Close to home we might coach in-person and outdoors, drawing literally and metaphorically on our surroundings for inspiration and restoration, ‘finding our path as we walk it’. Some coaching contracts are just a few targeted sessions to address a specific need. Others can be longer, over months or even years, as our clients navigate tricky personal, professional, organisational transitions.
Every individual is different, of course, but every one of the leaders we work with needs somehow to engage, influence, collaborate with others, make sense of complex, sometimes confusing data, build relationships and examine alternative viewpoints, make decisions and communicate them, all relational challenges that benefit from a relational coaching orientation. Plus, as OD consultants as well as coaches, our experience in change and psychology means our interventions are practical as well as developmental.
“I can’t believe what we achieved in just the first four sessions. My relationship to my work, my line manager and my team are so much better, I feel more confident, more determined. I have a sense of purpose and have more energy. Even my wife has noticed the difference!”
